Oh Orlando how I love you right now!!
Now I know many people love her and she does have some good songs. And what she did in Oregon was great. BUT there are some things that annoy me.
In an interview on Ellen she stated that the reason why she dressed this way was for the people who felt like outcasts. The problem that I have with this statement is the fact that it sounds like she is doing it for popularity amongst the “outcast”. And if this is true then the image she portrays is not her. How is a publicity stunt going to help people feel better about themselves? Then there is her actual outfits, I can’t tell you how many times I have stayed up late at night thinking to myself “God if only I had the courage to walk around in meat (where was PETA), or Kermit the Frog dolls.” Thank you GaGa with out you where would I be?
Then there is the anthem “Born this way”. A lot of people have stated that it sounds a lot like Madonna (“express yourself” comes to mind ). But I wont fault her for that, many artists have done this in the past. I’m sure there will be more in the future. The big problem I have is with the title and some lines that she says:
‘Cause God makes no mistakes
I’m on the right track, baby
I was born this way
For many people they feel that God has made a mistake. For people who have handie-caped family members (myself included) they at least once felt like he/she made a big mistake. Then there are the transgender community. Isn’t the reason why they have a sex change because they feel that there was an error? Maybe I’m reading into the song to much, maybe I’m not understanding the whole message that she is saying in the song. If this is the case then I’m more then willing to hear what people have to say.
Then there is the music video for it. Maybe I’m to dumb, or not artsy enough. But I don’t get it. What does the monologue have to do with the song? Why was she and her dancer dead? As much as I hate to say it (God knows I do) I have to say Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” had a much more positive message, and more importantly made sense.
Why does she call herself Mother Monster, and her “followers/fans” little monsters. My first reaction to hearing her use the term little monsters was “BUT THAT IS A MOVIE!!” (its a classic I don’t care what people say). And one who has heard artists being accused of making themselves cult like, I have to admit it kind of seems like it.
Well this is my rant. And just to make myself clear she does have some good songs. But I just feel like she is put on a pedestal that really she doesn’t deserve.

“Don’t be a drag, just be a queen,” Lady Gaga says in her new hit, “Born This Way,” but some drag queens have their panties all in a bunch about the artist and her work! This past Tuesday night at Sheddy’s Public Parlour in Los Angeles, drag queens Ms. Luna, Detox Icunt and Raquel Redd staged a demonstration to express their outrage and disapproval for “Born This Way” and “Mother Monster” who they claim use a brainwashing video/marketing campaign and mind control techniques!
During a high impact number which referred to tabloid crazy celebrities and their publicity stunts, Ms. Luna pulled out the sign which read “Born This Way?” “Don’t be a drag” “…Oh really Gaga?” After a moment, Ms. Luna flipped the sign over to have it read “Lady Gaga… why???”
Then in a fit of rage and anger, Miss Luna, Detox Icunt and Raquel Redd ripped the placard in pieces, much like Sinead O’Connor ripped up the Pope’s photograph on “Saturday Night Live” many years ago.
The room began to scream with thunderous applause, hoots and hollers. In response to the anti-Gaga demonstration, a very small chorus of Lady Gaga die-hard fans shouted out that they “still love” their pop star. The crowd lambasted them verbally, as they were clearly a minority.
The drag queens kept on with their routine shouting out to the audience how they are no longer fans of Stefani Germanotta, while making several references to Gaga’s recent blatant misteps and marketing ploys.
While the current Gaga “Born This Way” campaign may resonate with some, it is creating a divide. Some of the comments that were shouted out by even audience members were:
“Gaga’s nothing but a Madonna wannabe.”
“Gaga insults the Asian population. We’re not Orientals!”
“Who does she think she is calling herself Mama Monster?”
“She’s lost her mind and she’s lost me as a fan!”
“Go back to hell with your fake horns bitch!”
